Leatherhead District

Calendar Notes

Our meetings are for all members, so please don’t be put off if you feel nervous. (We’ll let you into a secret – even the best ringers feel nervous sometimes – it is only natural.)

District Practice – Everything from Rounds & Call Changes through to whatever we can sensibly manage. For 2024, we will endeavour to provide some suggested methods for people to look at before coming.  A chance to experience/hear some better ringing and meet up with members from across the District. The ‘traditional’ District Practice.

Relaxed Ringing & Lunch – These Monday/Friday morning sessions are similar to the above but have a different ‘feel’. We don’t go because we feel we ought to be there, we go because we want to enjoy our ringing together and the social get-together in the pub afterwards! Typically held at a tower just outside the District. A ‘one-tower mini-outing’ if you prefer.

Focus on 6 – More of our District Practices will be at six-bell towers in 2024.  We may also organise some special 6-bell practices – speak to one of our people about what type of practice you’d like.

Stedman & Beyond – We are intending to have a special practice for those wishing to stretch to Stedman and Surprise on eight bells – Reserve the afternoon of 18th May.  More later.

SC Squad Practice – These are focussed practices in preparation for the Guild inter-District Striking Competitions on 8 & 10 bells. The Guild 8-bell competition is in our District on 13th July and the 10-bell competition is on 31st August (not a Bank Holiday) at Egham.  We will adopt a team approach, driven by the goal of doing as well as we can in the competitions, while at the same time recognising that not all will necessarily be able to be selected to ring on the day.

District QP Day – We will not have a specific Quarter Peal Day in 2024, but we are offering to arrange assistance for Quarter Peals for everyone who would like to try.  Please speak to the District Master or one of the three Assistant Masters (or your Tower Captain) and we will see what can be arranged.
