Leatherhead District

Calendar Notes

District Practice – Everything from Rounds & Call Changes through to whatever we can sensibly manage. Typically well attended with plenty of ‘stand-behinders’. A chance to experience/hear some better ringing and meet up with members from across the District. The ‘traditional’ District Practice.

Relaxed Ringing & Lunch – These Monday morning sessions are similar to the above but have a different ‘feel’. We don’t go because we feel we ought to be there, we go because we want to enjoy our ringing together and the social get-together in the pub afterwards! Typically held at a tower just outside the District. A ‘one-tower mini-outing’ if you prefer.

Now We are Six – The goal of these is to offer a practice where there is plenty of opportunity & support to help improve method ringing on 5 & 6 bells. Typically mostly Plain Hunt, Plain Bob & Grandsire. Plain Courses and simple touches. A bit of Kaleidoscope etc if needed, but NOT Rounds & Call Changes. Previously restricted to members of the 6-bell towers. NOW OPEN TO ALL, but please check with your Tower Captain or the District Master to make sure this is the right practice for you. Tower Captains/experienced ringers very welcome if accompanying an inexperienced qualifying ringer.

Stedman & Beyond – These practices are designed to stretch the more capable ringers in the District. We’ll aim for the standard 8, one-at-a-time & spliced, and perhaps beyond. We’ll also ring Double Norwich and perhaps Shipway & spliced Triples. If you are unsure if these practices are for you then please check with the District Master.

10-bell Method Practice – We have a couple of these in the programme. These will be focused on improving our individual and collective ability to ring methods on 9 & 10 bells. Probably mostly Plain Bob, Grandsire, Stedman, Little Bob, Kent, and hopefully Cambridge & Yorkshire.
