Nice to see a good number of you at Haslemere on the 5th March. We were able to ring a variety of things on six, eight and ten, and then recuperate with more of Kathy’s excellent baking!
A GDGYR band took part in the Guild six bell striking competition at Ash on the 12th March, competing against bands with people old enough to be their mums or dads. Hold on, it WAS their mums and dads…!!! The band rang Plain Bob Doubles, rather than call changes which they have for previous competitions, and rang really well. Not winners this time, but soon – well done to all of them.
The South East England Youth Striking Contest is coming up on April 2nd at Epsom, with six bands confirmed from Essex, Kent, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Winchester and Portsmouth, and ourselves. It should be an excellent day! Our band this time will be:
- Matthew Pearson
- Matthew Gill
- Laura Gill
- Harriet Armitage
- Sam Norman
- Jack Edwards
- Jacob Webb
- Katie Collins
Harriet is too old to ring for the group in the Ringing World contest on July 2nd, and so Jess Metcalfe from Camberley will replace her for this. A couple of the current band will be too old for next year’s contest and so we will need to bring in some new faces for the competition bands.
I will let you know when the next GDGYR practice will be soon.
