Guild 10-bell competition at Haslemere on 9th June

Congratulations to Farnham District for narrowly winning the 10-bell striking competition on 9th June 2018 at Haslemere.  The method was Grandsire Caters and the results were as follows:

1st        Farnham District                27.5 faults

2nd       Guildford District               28 faults

3rd        Leatherhead District          62 faults

The judges felt that the first band to ring (Leatherhead District) would have done better if they’d rung more slowly. The ringing was uneven to start with, but very good at the end.  A couple of missed dodges were quickly recovered.

The second band (Farnham District) rang lots of rounds which gave a good rhythm.

The third band (Guildford District) rang more steadily, but the judges felt that bells in 8,9 were a bit strung out on occasion.

Congratulations to all who took part – it was an enjoyable and worthwhile competition on a beautiful day, despite the nerves that undoubtedly affected people.
