Seven bands competed in the Guild’s 6-bell striking contest on 13th March 2021, held for the first time as an online event in Ringing Room with band members communicating via Zoom.

The test piece was 120 of Doubles, Minor, call changes or rounds, judged by Paul and Kate Flavell of Kingston-upon-Thames. Four of the bands rang Bob Doubles, with the others ringing Bob Minor, Grandsire Doubles and Stedman Doubles.

The judges commented that the quality of ringing was generally good and that most teams managed to recover remarkably well after any online technical issues such as bells not striking or the occasional double blow, as well as from method mistakes.

The overall results were as follows:

1st   Farnham District   87%

Joint 2nd   Dorking, Ewell   84%

4th   Shalford   83%

5th   Crondall   78%

6th   Godalming   75%

7th   East Molesey   71%
