Guildford District Quarter Peal Weekend – the results are in

Congratulations to everyone who rang in our Quarter Peal weekend! Nearly 40 Guildford District members from 13 different towers have taken part over the last three days, in 15 QP attempts.

We have completed 12 quarters, ranging from Plain Bob Doubles to Stedman Cinques, and we have achieved ten notable firsts (to my knowledge). Here they are:

First Quarter Peal – Andy Lowing, Chiddingfold
First Plain Bob Doubles – John Gosden, Wonersh
First Grandsire Doubles – David Beale, Godalming
First Minor – David Wholey, Shalford
First on 8 – Josh Richardson, Dunsfold
First Grandsire Triples – Graham Lucas, Cranleigh
First Surprise Major – Paul Buckley, Guildford Cathedral
First 8 spliced Surprise Major – Tim Stansfeld, Compton
First Grandsire Caters as Conductor – John Hutchinson, Guildford Cathedral
First Stedman Cinques – Tim Stansfeld, Compton

And each of those last three QPs was composed by a local member ringing in the event – Julian Morgan, Richard Burton and John Hutchinson (who conducted his own composition).

Organising QP weekend is a team effort. Booking the towers, organising the bands, conducting the attempts, and of course turning up well prepared to ring to the best of your ability. So well done all of us!

And my particular thanks to those ringers from other Districts (and indeed from the Surrey Association), who stepped in at short notice when people had to drop out unexpectedly. We could not have done it without you!

If you want to see the full list of successful QPs here is the link to the event on Bellboard. Not quite all of them are up yet – but I am sure they soon will be: Guildford Diocesan Guild – Guildford District Quarter Peal Weekend
