Holy Week Training Plus – 2017

Hi All,

This year we have 3 courses running, the first is practical so is being run the week before Holy Week:-

Wednesday 5 April – Stoke-Next-Guildford GU1 1HB – 7.45 – 9.15 pm

Advanced Bell Handling for Method Ringing

This course is aimed at those moving from Rounds and Changes into Plain Hunt and Method Ringing.

If you know and can remember the method, but just can’t get the bell to do what you want, this is the course for you.

Pre-requisite – Able to keep in place for rounds and changes.

We will need support ringers to help with this so it would be useful for your Tower Captain or Trainer to come along as well. This will help with progressing your training at your normal practice.

Tuesday 11 April (Holy Week) – St John’s Centre, next to Merrow Church, GU4 7AA – 7.45 – 9.15 pm. (upstairs Seminar Rooms).

(1) Planning and Running a Recruitment Open Day – Case Studies from last year’s successful programmes

In contrast to previous occasions this course will focus on what 3 towers have done in the last year to plan and run Recruitment Open Days, along with the follow-up training of recruits.

(2) Simple Conducting for beginners

This course will be run by David Beadman and is aimed at ringers who are competent at Plain Bob and Grandsire, and have made their first tentative steps in bob calling, with the aim of progressing to conducting. This would also be useful for the more senior members of the Young Ringers to spread conducting duties as the group progresses and grows.

If you are interested, or have people in your tower who are interested, please respond back to me.

Regards,
Mike Bale,
Guild Training Officer.
