This is an early notice to ensure the date is in your diary!
The Leatherhead District 2015 Outing will be held on Saturday the 6th June and offers a busy 9 – 5 ringing day in West Sussex at Warnham, Billingshurst, Pulborough, Steyning and Henfield.
There will be ringing at all levels to suit those attending, from an 8 bell, 12 cwt to a 10 bell, 14 cwt tower!
There will also be plenty of time to take refreshments at a very pleasant riverside pub with an extensive menu. Please find an attached poster for display in your Tower.
The first tower is St Margaret, Warnham, RH12 3QL 10 14-2-11. 35 mins/18 miles from Leatherhead. The tower is booked for our ringing from 09.15 until 10.15. Easy parking is available at the church entrance.
From here we drive to our next tower, St Mary, Billingshurst, RH14 9PY 8 14-2-18, 15 mins/8 miles from Warnham. Ringing has been booked from 10.45 until 11.30, limited parking is available outside the church or on the roadside.
Then it is on to St Mary, Pulborough, RH20 1AB 8 14-0-18, 11 mins/5 miles from Billingshurst. Ours from 12.00 until 13.00, parking by the church and beyond. Look out for the turning off the A29, past Tesco’s then right turn at the top of the hill.
Much needed refreshment will be available at THE WHITE HART, Stopham Road, Pulborough, RH20 1DS, one mile from St Mary’s heading west along the A283, where we have a reservation for lunch from 13.15 until 14.45, outside if the weather is fair. Look out for the left turning immediately after the Garden centre. If you cross the river, you have missed it ! Easy parking is available at the pub.
Please peruse the lunch menu on the website www.whitehartpulborough.com – pre-ordering is required to allow a quick turnround so let me have your food requirements by mid May, as I will be on my hols after then!
After lunch, the tower at St Andrew and St Cuthman, Steyning is ours from 15.00 until 16.00, BN44 3YQ 8 12-1-16, 25 mins/12 miles from Pulborough. Plenty of parking available, turn right as you level with the church on your LHS, do not follow the route all the way to the sat nav post code.
Our final tower for the day is St Peter, Henfield, BN5 9NZ 8 16-2-7, 17 mins/7 miles from Steyning, booked from 16.30 until 17.30, parking opposite the church and behind the church hall.
This will conclude a busy but hopefully enjoyable outing …. however, we are all invited to a house warming at Abi’s new home in Horsham on completion of the ringing day!
Abi is kindly offering us some food and hospitality, please bring your own drinks to [Abi’s house]. Again, please advise if you will be joining in at the end of the day so that Abi has an idea of the numbers attending. Many Thanks, Abi!
These outings are always popular so, if you would like to come, please email me as soon as possible to include your order for lunch at The White Hart.
Many thanks,
Mike Todd
