The Guild did well in the’ Ringing Remembers’ Armistice 100 commemorations.
30 of our towers (almost half of our towers) have put associated ringing events onto BellBoard, ranging from rounds and call changes to Stedman Cinques. There were three peals of Grandsire Triples, at Ashtead, Farnborough and Guildford Holy Trinity, all using Parker’s 12-part composition. There were 10 quarter peals ranging from Doubles to Cinques and 17 other ringing performances.
Eight ‘Ringing Remembers’ recruits are listed as taking part under the Guildford Guild heading. We know of at least five other recruits ringing in Guild towers that didn’t associate their Armistice ringing performance with the Guild. We also know of other Guild towers that took part but didn’t associate their performances with the Guild.
Overall we can be sure that the Guild’s towers keenly participated and we are thankful for the hard work of our members in participating, recruiting, training, organising and conducting ringing for this very special occasion.
