Guildford Guild Band – Sep 2015

Essex Band – Winners – Flanked by Lucinda and David Woodward, Judges

Six teams from neighbouring counties converged on St Nicolas’, Guildford this afternoon for the annual Essex Trophy Striking Competition.  We were treated to some excellent ringing of Pudsey Surprise Royal throughout the afternoon followed by a splendid Ringers’ Tea, at the end of which the two judges, Lucinda and David Woodward, pronounced the Essex Association this year’s winners.  The scores were as follows:

1st    Essex Association                    93%
2nd   Guildford DG                            92%
3rd    Surrey Association                   91%
4th    Winchester & Portsmouth DG 88%
5th    Sussex Association                  82%
6th    Kent Association                      76%

Congratulations to the Guildford band for coming such a close second – obviously planned so they don’t have to lug the trophy up to the Cathedral ringing chamber!  The band were:
