The Open Day at West Clandon on Saturday 25 April proved very successful, with a healthy number of visitors signing up to start training. On arrival at the church they received a brief explanation of how bells are rung in England (using a model bell and a live CCTV link to the belfry) before going up to the tower to ‘have-a-go’. After that they were given refreshments in church and a chance to try ringing changes and tunes on handbells. Training on tower bells will start on Friday evenings from next week (1st May), supplemented by extra weekend sessions as required.
