Young Ringers’ Updates

Dear all

I have several things to mention and update you on. The Ringing World National Youth Contest on July 11th is getting close. I have not yet received any further details of the day or the contest itself, and I will send you details when I have them. I plan to get to Oxford by train, via Reading, but others may prefer to drive and use the park-and-ride facility operated by the city.

A practice just for the band for the striking competition has been arranged at Wonersh on Saturday 4th July at 6:30 until 7:15. Please note the time has been changed from the original email.

I have put together a provisional itinerary for the rest of this year, in order that they can go everyone’s diary. I will send out reminders with tower details and confirmation of the date and time closer to each practice.

The dates I am planning are as follows:

July 19th (Sunday)
September 12th
October 10th
November 7th
December 5th

I will stick to the usual time of 4:30pm until 6pm wherever possible.

I will get our itinerary published onto the Guild website events calendar, and will keep this up to date, so please check there to confirm timing and venue. Don’t hesitate to email, text or call me if you need any more help or assistance.

One of our group, Jack Edwards rang his first quarter peal on June 7th, ringing the treble to Plain Bob Doubles, called by Matthew Pearson. And Jack’s dad Andrew was also ringing for his first quarter too. Details are here : Well done to Jack and Andrew! It has got us talking about arranging quarters for the GDGYR, so I might talk to you more about this.

Please continue to prompt and cajole other young ringers to join us – the more the merrier!

Kind regards

David Pearson
