2025 South East England 12 Bell Striking Competition

A band from Guildford Cathedral took part in the first South East 12 Bell Striking Competition held at Portsmouth Cathedral. The test piece was 264 Grandsire Cinques and seven bands were entered. Guildford were drawn second to ring which means there was not a lot of hanging around. All the bands rang well but when the results came in, Guildford were delighted to have won the Mavis Whitehead Trophy!  Along with the new Trophy they were awarded a bottle of sherry and bag of peanuts as Mavis Whitehead liked to sit listening to the bells with her sherry and peanuts. Congratulations Guildford!

1st Guildford 77%

2nd Portsmouth 74%

3rd Reading 68%

This new competition will become an annual event on the 3rd Saturday in October.
