The Guild’s summer young ringers practice took place on Sunday 31st August 2025 at St Nicolas, Guildford, with 10 young ringers from 4 towers : Aldershot (5), Frensham (2), Crondall (1) & Pirbright (2), all from the Farnham District. This included somebody who had never rung before, who mastered backstrokes by the end of the session. The band were supplemented by 11 helpers (a couple of which were on the young side). Oliver Hall in the chair.
Plenty of rounds to get used to the bells, lots of plain hunt on 9 with a few of the young ringers in each time. Some Bob Doubles & Stedman Doubles while a few ringers visited the bells, and 2 leads of Bristol Surprise Major, which incidentally had 1 young ringer inside. Lots of opportunity for the younger ringers to try their hand at ringing the tenor.
It was great to see our young ringers enjoying themselves and developing skills. A brilliant afternoon.
